Our 4th Annual World Clubfoot Day California will be June 01, 2019 at 11 a.m. Clubfoot families will have a chance to meet, connect, and support each other at Florence Joyner Olympiad Park (22760 Olympiad Rd).

World Clubfoot Day, CA started in 2016 when Dr. Rodriguez and clubfoot mom Jill Harold shared a vision of uniting clubfoot families. Families are able to enjoy a fun-filled day at Florence Joyner Park in beautiful Ladera Ranch, CA, surrounded by attendees from all over California and beyond, with a common goal: to inspire one another and to let each other know that they are not alone in this journey.

There is a new, exciting theme every year, and families gather with their chairs and picnic lunches to watch clubfoot children and adults share stories, challenges, and milestones!  This year our theme is superheroes! We will have a dash for all kids who would like to participate and they will receive a medal. We will also have a superhero parade for all who come dressed up.

The Ponseti International Association nominated June 3rd as World Clubfoot Day.The date was agreed upon to celebrate and honor the day Dr. Ignacio Ponseti was born, the man who developed the Ponseti method for the treatment of clubfoot. The intent of World Clubfoot day is to educate the public about clubfoot disability and its prevention with the Ponseti Method.

Clubfoot is one of the most common congenital birth defects. On average one in a thousand infants is born with clubfoot worldwide. Parents of infants born with clubfoot should understand that clubfoot is treatable. Neglected or mistreated clubfoot in children and adults may cause emotional and physical pain and possible shame, discrimination, and bullying. In developing countries, many children do not have access to health care and are forced to live with untreated clubfoot.

In honor of World Clubfoot Day, we at SCFAS joined forces with Jill Harold (Clubfoot mom and advocate), Tony Spineto (Clubfoot Triathlete, clubfoot dad and advocate) to create World Clubfoot Day California. This is an annual celebration for the clubfoot community, with an opportunity to connect and inspire those locally and support international clubfoot organizations.
